River Country Journal - bFirst test/b of “Initial bAid/b” goes well

“Everything went flawlessly.”

These are words Scott Roderick, chief of the Fabius-Park Fire Department, used in describing the first test of the “Initial Aid” approach to firefighting that became operational on June 1st.

Firefighters from both the Fabius-Park Fire Department and Three Rivers Fire Department were dispatched simultaneous shortly after 7 o’clock Saturday morning (June 12th) after smoke was reported coming from a home on Summit Road in Fabius Township.  Roderick said the engine from his department was the first to arrive, followed shortly after by firefighters from Three Rivers.

Roderick said, “Everything went as we had planned and as we worked out.  Their guys got on scene along with our guys.”  Firefighters initiated an attack on the fire, were able to contain the fire in the attic area, and “no fire got into the main structure of the house.”  (Scott_Roderick_audio clip – :40)
