Red Cross Offering bFree CPR/b/bFirst Aid/b Classes to Families of b.../b
Participants will learn how to perform life saving CPR skills for infants, children, and adults. First Aid skills will cover the care to provide for a variety of illnesses and injuries until professional help arrives.
“We are very excited to offer this service to the families,” stated Linda Beaumont, Executive Director of the Chippewa County Chapter. “This type of training will help prepare families for emergencies that may happen at any point in time whether with their own families, in their neighborhoods or workplaces. It is a goal of the Red Cross that every family have at least one member trained in CPR and First Aid.”
The free classes are the result of a grant awarded to the chapter in late 2009 by the Dept. of Defense and National Red Cross. Some of the other services provided with grant funds were predeployment activities and gifts for the children of the 1437th National Guard Troop; four digital camcorders for family use before and after deployment, and the community-wide mailing, Operation: Care Package where 120 packages were mailed to the soldiers.
