In what ways do they branch out in terms of post, unit, and skill
how do they become naval parachutists?
you will find PR's anywhere you find fixed wing aircraft (on shore and at sea). Most of it will be with squadrons that attach to a ship while deployed.
This is a video of the NAVY Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 1 and C Ebook manual by the US Navy. It is a great manual about wilderness survival ...
Is it hard to get into?
Is there a age limit for that position?
Every job in the Navy is open to women with the exception of those in the special operations field.
Yes, but you would be working in a different capacity.
I am currently in the Navy and will be separating from active duty (my enlistment will be up) on December 24, 2006.
I am a second class PR, which is Aircrew Survival Equipmentman for those non-airdale types, and am debating whether I should go into the active reserves or stay in the IRR. I am getting out to work on my Bachelor's degree in Nursing. At the same time, I would like to continue my service in the military, just not full time and preferably in a rating I actually want.
If I did go active reserves, how easy or hard is it to cross-rate to HM. Also, what are my chances of getting recalled? I don't want to be in the middle of a school semester then get told that I have to be recalled for a year or so and go to Iraq or something. I've heard various reserve recruiters tell me various things so I don't know which ones are telling my the truth and which are lying.
I'm afraid I don't have all of the answers that you need.Even though I respect everyone who serves in the US military I would have to say at this point you have to make a decision based on your goals and needs.Being a reservist can most definitely interfere with your schooling as you well know.If you believe that it's time to further your education and move ahead with the rest of your life then you know that school alone is the right choice.Especially in todays world it's entirely possible that you could be called to active duty as a reserve. You really need to think of it that way.I know this is not the best answer you'll get but I tried.Thank you (and everyone else in the armed forces)for serving the country I love and for making an informed decision about your future.Joe
On the Air Force website, it states they prepare equipment like parachutes, survival kits, helmets, and other items. But it also states they train crew members how to use the equipment and weapons, how often does this happen? Do they really sit around all day sewing parachutes and floatation devices or is there more fun in the job?
I just cross-trained from this job and held a 7-level in it. Some duties do require you to sew and repair equipment. You also teach crew-members how to use the equipment, fit and adjust all flight equipment to each individual member, and even teach survival skills to aircrew members in the water and woods. This happens only a few times a year as far as the survival instructing goes. 80% of this job is inspecting equipment over and over, the other 20% is what makes the job fun. Overall, OK job. I crossed to be a TACP because AFE just wasnt fulfilling what I want from the military and TACP I think will. Its a good job, you get to go to Combat survival training, water survival, even get lucky like me and go to Arctic Survival School. Its what you make of it but all jobs in the AF are that way.

Aircrew Flight Equipment Job?
On the website of the Air Force, she said they are preparing materials like parachutes, survival kits, headsets and other items. But it also states they train the crew how to use equipment and weapons, how many times that? Do they really sit around all day to sew parachutes and flotation devices or is it more fun in the job?
I cross just formed from this work and held a 7-level in it. Some functions require you to sew and repair the equipment. You also teach crews how to use the equipment, ask and resolve all flight equipment for each member, and even teach survival skills to members of the crew in the water and wood. This happens a few times a year, as far as survival instruction va. 80% of this work is more and inspecting the equipment and the other 20% is what makes the charm of employment. Overall, the work OK. I crossed from being a TACP because SFA simply filling wasn't what I want from the military and TACP think I will. Its a good job, you enjoy going to the fight against the survival training, water survival, even are lucky like me and go to Arctic Survival School. Its what you made of him, but all jobs in the AF are like that.
