Bird Flu Survival

Would the effect of nicotine (smoking) increase or decrease my chance of survival if I was to catch Bird flu?

Will the smoking help save me or slay me? Thanks?

Nicotine probably won't do a thing either way. It's all the other stuff in smoke that weakens your respiratory system and stops it being able to recover as quickly.

How to survive swine flu broken down to a few easy steps. 1) Swab nostrils with disinfectant after all time spent outside. 2) Drink a glass of ...

What would you if a world wide crisis such as "bird flu" happened?

Would you go into survival mode, would you go to work? What would YOU do?

Round up my family, head for the hills and go into survival mode.

If somebody with h5n1 (bird flu) tries to enter your space and poses a threat to your life, what can you do?

If somebody with an evident, highly infectious and incurable disease entered your immediate proximity and posed a direct threat to your survival and refused to leave the area, would you be able to use whatever force necessary to stop the apparent threat?
*Hypothetical*

No, you can't use force. You are never allowed to take the law into your own hands. If it's in a public space, walk away. If it's in a business setting, ask the office manager if they can request the individual go home. Now, this said, how do you know this person has this flu? Have you seen this person's medical charts? Guessing doesn't count as a reliable diagnosis. You had better have your facts before you go throwing accusations.

Do you have any survival training and are you prepared for a disaster?

My sister and I were talking about how we would fare if we faced some sort of societal breakdown or world disaster. If the bird flu took over, you had no utilities, running water and modern communication weren't there, what would you do? Do you have a survival plan with your family? Do you have a pre-defined meeting place for loved ones? Would you help others? Where would you go?
She was in the Marines and I was in the Army. We don't have plans but are putting one together along with survival packs. Wierd, probably. But you do never know.

Well, there's only one way to find out. I guess the first thing to do would be to secure water and a generator and start rationing.

A question a lot of people may want to know: Will getting a Flu shot protect against the new Swine Flu?

I have heard from a nurse that if you get a Flu shot, you won't NOT get sick if you catch it, but you will be more likely to survive. This was during the bird Flu fiasco. So I'm wondering, since this strain seems to be even MORE complex, does anyone WHO IS QUALIFIED think that gettting a Flu shot will raise the chances of survival upon the off-chance that person gets infected? I have heard there are also Flu shots that are "multi-strain," or provide more coverage from more types of Influenza. Is this true? And if so, would that be better?
I've already gotten my shot this season. So would I not be able to get a "booster" since I'm absolutely terrified that this is going to turn into a pandemic. I'm trying not to be pessimistic, but honestly, it's better safe than sorry!
Thanks

No. And there is a new strain found in Texas that they have no source of how these people got it. Countries are banning travel to North America. Canada has cases, so does San Diego, San Antonio, Texas, Kansas, Ohio, NYC, and when will it end? It is spreading among the healthy, 20 to 40 yr olds besides teens. When it is easily spread from a sneeze, touching the same sink, stepping in spit, even being in the same room, is very scarey--countries are banning also imports of pork.

Already WHO is gearing up as this will be a pandemic. Washing hands with hot water, washing fruit and veggies before storing them. Taking shoes off before going into house. Wearing masks in subways, buses, etc. Even if some get it, the drugs have horrible side effects, including heart failure, kidney failure, suicide feelings, etc.

I don't see a shot coming soon when new strains are popping up.
