Buck Survival Knife

Answers

What is a good Hunting/Survival knife to have for under 30.00 bucks?

Which company makes good knife's? for a decent price.

As stated by the other answers, BUCK makes some really good knives for the hunter. Wal-mart has good prices on them and I got my sheath knife for about $30 or so.

I am not a fan of the newer style of survival knife with the "saw blade" but prefer the clean standard cutting edge.

Buck Survival Knife BUCKMASTER

Buckmaster survival knife from Buck.

what is the max fixed blade knife length in florida?

i have a BUCK nighthawk tatical/military survival knife that is 4 7/8 in. long and need to know how long the max length a knife can be in florida that is not concealed.

I don't know that there is a max length
The laws concerning carrying knives address concealed knives and allow for 4 inch blades

I used to carry a Sharp Finger and have co workers that carry sheath knives around five inches long
I carry a caping knife with a small blade now

We have an excuse due to our jobs but I have never been stopped for doing it

Buck Strider Fixed Blade?

I am a soldier in need of a new survival/combat knife and am looking at getting the Buck Strider ML or FB fixed blade. I cant decide between the two. The ML looks more functional but the tip looks weak because of the false blade on the tip. The FB should be stronger but the shape of the blade looks like it is more for looks than actually cutting, slicing or chopping. I cant seem to find any reviews on these knives but the reviews on Buck's other large fixed blade the "nighthawk" have been great all around. I am very confident with Buck Knives but dont want to dish out the cash and not be happy.
Does anyone have experience with these knives or own one? I am very curious about how the tip on the ML is shaped and how it holds up to abuse. I would also like to know how the cutting ability of the FB is with that weird blade shape. Thank you in advance for all your help.

the ML isn't bad, the tip is a little suspect, but it depends on
how abusive you're going to be. I collect knives and have found two new starting firms that you might want to look at,
also...JB Knives and BWS knives saw them at a show &
both , especially BWS, have trail knives.....functional, nasty
little buggers!

ok last time i swear is this a good hunting/survival knife?

i think i found a good one That is good for both hunting and survival, tell me what you think, once again im 16 so nothing over 25 bucks and if you call me a loser ill cry

Don’t let the name calling get to you. Every single one of them was a kid at one time, that cried their eyes out over something.

I understand how important a knife is for hunting, camping and wilderness survival. I am in my mid 50’s and have some very expensive knives but find myself using some cheap ones more often than the high dollar ones. In fact my favorite butchering knife is a cheap carbon steel Old Hickory knife from Ontario Knife Company.
http://www.ebladestore.com/knives/OH-77. html
Many of my friends own several knives from that company here in Alaska. I mean Alaskan trappers, hunters and big game guides. That company also makes knives for the US Military.

The knife you selected will do for starting out. But I would consider a better quality steel so it will hold an edge. Looks are not important, what is important is good steel and a good handle.
Beware of those cheap survival knives many of them will not hold an edge and break at the worse time.

Here are some more I found for you to consider;

Get the Official Bear Grylls Bayley Knife

Grylls teamed with the knife expert Robert Bayely to make a knife design more to the survivor’s liking. Robert Bayely is known for making excellent custom survival knives that are sought after by collectors. By teaming up with Bear they could market the famous survival hosts name on top of the knife manufacturers reputation.

The Bear Grylls knife was designed according to the following characteristics: First off Bear Grylls knife needed to be strong and durable. Of course the best survival knives are made with full tang blades. His personal preference was for a one piece knife guard, which makes sense when making a survival knife that can withstand great punishment and continue to function. Bear’s knife had to be easily carried without restricting movement and so was designed slim, lightweight, and of reasonable size.
