Child Survival

I saw a movie about a child from Greenland,and I heard in my workplace about an accident.

The probability is about 1% under optimal conditions. One of the best circumstances is falling into a warm body of deep water, where about 1% of people will survive a 100' fall. Falling into a haystack or billowy tree also provides considerable cushioning. Falling onto rocks or pavement, on the other hand, will be nearly 100% fatal. There are a few individuals who have unbreakable bones, and seem to be able to survive long falls at nearly terminal velocity with relatively little damage to their organs. However, this phenomenon is so rare that most reports may be apocryphal.

The WHO estimates (2002) that 392,000 people die in falls every year. In 1972, Vesna Vulović survived a fall from 33,000 feet without a parachute. Falls are the second leading cause of work-related death in the U.S. In 2000, 717 workers died of injuries caused by falls from ladders, scaffolds, buildings, or other elevations.

Surviving a fall from a high point, such as 100', requires not injuring one's head or pelvis.

if i am an organ donor and i have a .01% chance of surviving a bad accident, and there is a child that needs one of my organs, who has a 99% chance of survival with my organ, is my organ taken? what is right?
starla, thank you for your concern, i feel a little guilty, i was only hypethetically speaking, i'm fine. i'm just wondering ethicallly what is right, espeacially if the donor is unable to communicate.

Gary, first off, I'm sorry to hear of your accident. Second, if you have lived a good life and are not afraid to go to the other side, then donate the organ and give the child a chance to have a life too. In essence, you will be continuing to live within the child.

God has a plan for each of us. Do what your heart tells you to do.

My husband passed away and we are receiving social security survival benefit for my daughter. He didn't adopt her though. But the mean time, can we still collect child support from her physical father?

I don't know how you are getting social security when your husband passes away if he wasn't her father. I would hope you don't get caught. How about you stop trying to cheat the system. Her physical father should be paying support...not the government.

No truth in that what so ever.

The baby becomes viable at 24 weeks - 6 months pregnant.

Each day from then on, the baby becomes stronger and has a greater chance of life than it did previously the day before.

So a baby at 8 months has more of a chance than a baby born at 7 months.

Once you reach week 28, if baby is born you are generally considered safe and that baby will more than likely survive with some time in the neonatal unit.
