Custom Survival Knife

My grandpa makes custom knives. And he is offering to make me one. I don't know very much about knives. I want to use it in the woods, and the desert. I don't hunt so skinning animals isn't really a must, but if im in a survival situation it would be nice to have that feature.He wants to know what kind of handle i want (Wood, bone, antler, plastic, steel, etc) and what length of a blade i want. And is having a serrated part of the knife a good feature? Knowing very little about knives i have no idea what to say. Help please?

If there is one thing I learned in Boy Scouts, it's how long the blade should be. When you lie the blade on your palm so that it's perpendicular to your fingers, the whole blade shouldn't be longer than the distance from the edge of your index finger to the edge of your pinkie finger. For the handle, it's probably best to get a steel handle for strength and balance.

I've been trying to find the right survival/tactical knife for my bug out bag. I'm looking for one thaT is great for survival situations (chop, cut, stab, doesn't rust), but can also be used in combat situations. Like with a guard or something. I've just seen alot of survival knifes with no guards, so easy in god forbid a knife fight my hands to be cut up. Also of couse that's full tang/ durable as shit and if neded can keep a good edge for years? I'm thinking a good ole ka bar but I'm a lil skeptical. I would love to get a John Fitzen knife but I want to see what's quality out in the reg market, and not custom

The USAF Pilots Survival knife is probably what you are looking for then. It is smaller than the KaBar, it has a hammer pommel, saw back, holes on the guard so you can turn it into a spear, and is extremely durable. Plus it's only like 30 bucks. But you should know that if you actually get into a knife fight, you are going to get cut, just know it, accept it and be ready for it.

I'm thinking of buying a really good overall, something I can buy that can be used in the woods or I pray not a knife fight. It's really to have something that I can pass down to my kids, you know. Like a life knife, I'm thinking something survival like the Buck Strider ML 8 or really go with it and get a Chris Reeves or some other custom knife. Any help?

You and the girls escape via the tree, but the kid's arm is BITTEN off in the struggle. You hop in a car, hotwire it, and take off.

When you give the zombies the slip, you quietly pull into a hotel parking lot. The child is delirious, but it isn't certain that she is infected. Only time will tell.

You and the other two lock yourself into a hotel room, and you alone leave to find food, medicine, bandages...mainly guns. Night passes rather quickly, and you find a man in rugged clothing with a shotgun. Seemingly insane, he open fires on you.

Though you plead, behind a barricade, that you are not a zombie, the man insists otherwise...and continues to fire at you. When finally he runs out of bullets, you charge, overpower him, and pin him to the ground with a knife to his throat.

"No, please!" he cries. "I won't try to hurt you anymore! I am just freaked out by the zombies...don't kill me! I know of a few simple ingredients that, if combined, can inhibit and even cure the infected. Usually cures smaller people due to lack of virus-quantity."

A) he's wasted enough of your time. Slit his throat.
B) keep the knife to his neck, ask for the ingredients, then kill him. Obviously, he's gone bonkers, and he needs to 'rest.'

I would grab his head with both hands and slam it against the ground to knock him unconscious. Then I would drag him back to the hotel and tie him with rope or wire or something. When he wakes up, I will apologize and explain that he needed to make me trust him by telling me what the ingredients are and where to get them before he can be released. I also add that if he messes with me in the tiniest bit, I will drag him back outside tied up and let the zombies have him for breakfast.

Why the f am i making these trivias? On #7, only 1 person answered as of when this question was written!!!!! Unless I get ratings (1* terrible 10* wonderful), this is the last trivia :(

So you snatch a knife and run. Zombies everywhere. You hit up a gun shot, grab 2 shotguns, 3 pistols, and a grenade, and you get on the move. You fight valiantly through the night, driving over zombies and shooting them to pieces. For an hour or so you barricade yourself in a mall, but you are overwhelmed, and you flee.

As you wander the city, you check your watch--3:15 AM. About 3 or 4 hours before first light. You find a little girl and her mom, along with their wounded father. They say the father was shot by some guy gone crazy, not bitten. So you and the other three fight for another 2 hours, but are eventually boxed in by hordes of zombies. The family is demoralized and terrified, and you only have your grenade and knife remaining.

A) throw the grenade at the zombies, clearing a path for your escape (very risky...survival chance for family: 15%). *Note: to do this, you must fight with your knife to prevent the zombies from closing in, meaning u sacrifice yourself.*
B) knowing u and the family are screwed, wait til the zombies get closer, and subtly unpin the grenade, and drop it. A quick death for u guys and the zombies.
C) call for help like a madman
D) act like a zombie and tell the family to do the same, hoping the zombies will buy it
E) kill the family with the knife, pile the bodies on top of you, and ride out the night with this 'shield'
F) custom answer--tell me your course of action

A) I would throw the grenade and run out into the opening screaming and spin in circles with the knife extended out, hopefully slicing the zombies to shreds. The whole scene would hopefully distact the zombies long enough for the family to sneek away. then I would quickly lay under a dead zombie and wait until they walk away then run.
