Is there a good wasteland survival book?

I'm a fan of post apocalyptic settings (fallout 3 and mad max for example). I read a book called the zombie survival guide, and was wondering if there is a similar one relating to a post nuclear disaster?

Can anyone recommend a detailed urban survival manual that offers suggestions, advice and techniques?

I am looking for a book similar to the US Army's Survival Manual. However, the Army's survival guide does not have a section on urban survival. I live in a major city and want to get information on where to get water, food and shelter in the event I run out of supplies in a war, financial collapse, governmental take-over or natural disaster. I like the book "Steal This Book," but the information in it is very outdated from the 1970s. Anyone know of some comparable books? Thanks.

A better idea would be for you to take some classes in first aid and volunteer to participate in disaster relief drills. If you look around you can find many opportunities to prepare yourself to make a difference after a disaster.

(This is very interesting and could save your life)?

Spend an hour watching this video and your life may be saved sometime in the future.

INFO:
When disaster strikes who lives and who dies is not purely a matter of luck. In every disaster, from those people face once in a lifetime, to those they face every day, there are things that can be done to increase the chances of getting out alive.

Horizon has gathered a team of leading experts to produce the ultimate guide to disaster survival. Through controversial experiments, computer simulations and analysis of hundreds of survivor testimonies from plane crashes to ferry disasters and even 9/11, they will reveal what happens in the mind in the moment of crisis and how the human brain can be programmed for survival.

which book should i write first?

i am in the process of writing two books.
i have all my notes in order for both, now i just don't know which one to focus more on.
i am really into these two subjects so i started writing both but it has been difficult to do research, type, compile, organize, brainstorm, etc. for two books.

Book One: about survivalism, disaster planning, emergency planning, self-sufficiency, preparation, etc. a complete survival guide.

Book Two: a complete Salem, MA book.
the only book you will ever need to read to know everything about Salem inluding full history, travel guide, historical sites, etc.

Which one would be more marketable?
Which one would you rather read about?

opinions? (and don't say neither!)

Go with book one. Salem is changing so fast these days by the time your book comes out it will be outdated. Survival info is timeless and has a broader audience.

  • Prepping: A Beginner#39;s Guide – Essential Items Needed for Disaster ...

As humans, we are naturally aware of possible threats around us, and often the way a person neutralizes that threat is to create a story of the worse case scenario and begin to prep around that.  Becoming a person who preps for disasters begins with a level of awareness.  A prepper knows that there are possible threats, and it only makes sense to be as prepared as possible beginning with elemental disaster items to sustain basic needs (food, water, clothing and shelter) and then adding more preparedness layers onto it.  Basic disaster items are intended to sustain a person and their family for 3-5 days.  However, many decide to expand their disaster supplies to encompass a longer duration in the case that emergency response is delayed.  This is why preppers believe in having “back ups for their back ups.”
