Supplies for a first aid kit for a car?

So, I'm in a health class and I have to put together a first aid kit for my car. Besides the basics, bandages, pain relevers, antibiotic ointments, what else would you put in a first aid (NOT survival) kit for your Car?

Besides the basics? -- Nothing. You're in a health class. You shouldn't have anything you aren't trained to use.

You should definitely have all or most of the basics though. That would include --

Clean water
Blanket
Triangle bandage
Cold pack
Bandaid
Flat gauze
Rolled Gauze
Tongue depressor
Cardboard (for splinting)
Tape!
Scissors (bandage scissors preferably)
Alcohol or Hydrogen Peroxide (some people are allergic to betadine)
CPR Mask
Small trash bag

That should be good -- and cover most of the basics you'd need for minor stuff.

If you add 2 blankets, twist ties, and a bigger gauze pad -- you could deliver a baby.

Also -- (not first aid)
Something reflective
A Jacket
Flares

Do you have a survival/first-aid kit in your vehicles??

I don't...I know I should just in case...but the last time I was involved in an awful accident...my car was totally destroyed to the point that we couldn't find any of my stuff I had in there... so much for the first-aid kit.

I'm Moving out for the first time. What should I get?

Are there any things in general like items, safety first aid kit, survival tools, etc a guy and his roomate should get for their first apartment?

you know like "must have's" and "good to have's"

You can find a lot of good moving lists around, but don't hurry to buy things. You may never need a blender, for example! But you may find you need some sort of exotic video game trigger.

Here's my list of what I think you absolutely need upon moving into a new house:

a roll of toilet paper, a bar of soap, a small first-aid kit, a flashlight, a hand towel, a hammer, a pair of pliers, a set of wrenches, a roll of paper towels and water (just in case your water isn't turned on yet -- if it is, get a case of good drinks to reward yourself after moving). This should be kept in the front of the car, and unloaded first onto a central surface of the house where you can find it.

two sets of sheets, two sets of towels/washclothes, your daily hygeine stuff.

A pot big enough to boil spaghetti, and a pot big enough to boil pasta. A frying pan big enough for a pancake or two. Non-stick spatula, and a heat-resistant spatula (for digging out mayonnaise or stuff from jars). A cutting board and a big knife and a carving knife. A potato peeler. A plate, a bowl, a cup, a set of silverware and a mug for each person. (Worry about guests later, or use disposables.)

Cleaning supplies: two or three rags, a broom, a dustpan, a mop, dish soap, two dish towels, a sponge for dishes, and an all-purpose cleaner (baking soda would work very well, too). Windex or other window cleaner might be useful, but you can use dish soap in a pinch.

I think that's all you really, really need. Everything else, start making a list (oh, yeah, notepad, two or three pencils tied to the note pad, some pens, a pair of scissors), and add to it as you need more stuff. Review it at the end of the week, and decide what you really need.

Oh, yeah, and bring groceries for your first two meals, or at least know the good take-outs and deliveries near your new home.

EDIT: Oh, and a bucket or two. They can come in handy in so many ways, you can use them as a basket, to carry stuff, and of course, if you need a bucket, there's really no substitute.

weight and contents of grunt's first aid kit.?

hi can you specify contents of US foot soldier's first aid kit, if there's any?
I am particulary interested in medical components, such as pain killer, desinfectants, etc.
how much does the kit weight?is it usefull and being used? thanks.
do aircrew have some sort of this kit in their combat uniform /not speaking of the survival kit in the ejection seat/?

thanks

well it depends on what branch,, the army foot soldier only carries a pressure dressing the weight is only a few OZ., there are a few personnel that will carry a bigger med kit, these are known as combat life savers,,( to be honest 90% of them relay don't know how to use the gear they are given), are Marine on he other had carries a Little more with them, they would have a pressure dressing, bottle of iodine, eye patch, band aid, mole skin, and a small amount of petroleum jelly( works very well for chapped lips, and well as making petroleum gauze). every platoon of Marines has a Corpsman with them, that will under combat situations Carry a med kit with him, that will have everything he will need to treat minor injuries, all the way up to very traumatic ones,

  • Letter Re: Miniature Survival Kits Inside Gun Stocks ...

    Hello James,
I've read your blog daily for several months now, and although I haven't seen it mentioned, I'm sure this topic has been covered somewhere before. If not, then I hope what I discovered this week could be of use to some of your readers. I recently acquired a large lot of old shotguns and rifles, stored for many years, which needed a full breakdown and rigorous cleaning. When I removed the buttplates of these firearms, I noticed that almost all of them had a 5/8" to 3/4" hole running from the middle of the stock toward the receiver, which ranged in length from 6" to 9". My immediate thought was to use that space for a small survival kit.

    I obtained...
