My own opinion is that a "serrated" edge is worthless. If you stick it into an animals ribs, it hangs up and is very hard to pull out. I actually prefer 2 knives. I keep a folding lock blade knife in my pocket at all times. But I prefer a belt knife with a thick blade, similar to the good old Marine's best friend, the "K bar". I can whittle with it, skin with it, fight with it, split kindling, chop a smaller tree down using it and a piece of wood as a hammer, you name it.It also has a nice "hammer" head on the butt of the tang for pounding nails etc. I also keep a small carbide sharpner and a fine diamond "stone" to keep it working edge sharp. My smaller folding knife is used for slicing meat for the pan, skinning, delicate cutting etc.

I would like to purchase a similar knife. If you know of some good folding survival knives, please give me a website...
In the episodes I have seen, which is most of them, he is just using a singlefolding locking blade knife with a serrated back edge. He seems to use slightly different ones in each episode. Sometimes it looks like a gerber or a spyderco. I don't consider them a survival knife since they are so simple. I would recommend cutco and kabar knives. Check out cutco.com and get the catalog to buy them. I have used victorinox, gerber, buck and other knives in my life but none came close to the long lasting edge of the cutco/kabar knives. Having a flint or other firestarter would probably be crucial to survival.

a lockblade. swiss army is just a gimmick. they have too many parts to be really viable, sure they may be good for city life, but a lockblade is a much better choice for wilderness survival. it is sturdier, the blade can be used for fire starting, whittling a spear, building shelter, and (like the swiss army knife) cleaning your finger nails.

You are lucky because in a few days you can go to the Japan Custom Knife Show in Ginza where it will be easy to find all kinds of makers.
Here is the site with a map

Otherwise, I recommend you to go to Seki, in Gifu Pref. that's where all the high quality knives come from....I love and collect MCusta knives.

I am looking for a cheap but yet good survival knife. I wish for it to fold and it must be pretty sharp I will use to start fires with magnesium fire starters .
models here would help.
The Marine Kay-Bar is the knife I would choose if I could only have one.
They cost between $50 and $60 bucks.

Smith amp; Wesson Tanto Plain Edge Blade | Military Survival Knife, Black
Smith & Wesson's Military Police Magic Assisted Tanto shows good quality in an American-sponsored imported design. The Taiwanese makers of the Military Police Tanto put together good features and good materials. Tactical users may be tempted and anyone who needs a good urban survival knife should take a serious look.
The 2.9-inch 4034 stainless steel blade of the Smith & Wesson knife has the black coating of a military folder and the armor-piercing tanto shape that today comes in handy when dealing with sheet metal and plastic. Emergency features beyond that include a window breaker stud in the butt of the knife and textured rubber grips for a solid hold in all types of conditions. A secure liner lock prevents the blade from accidentally folding on the owner, and the side lock allows easy closure. Basic handle parts are of machined aircraft quality aluminum, light and strong. The blade's thumb studs make one-handed opening smooth and simple with either hand. Smith and Wesson 's M.A.G.I.C. system qualifies the knife as an assisted opening blade, not an automatic. Keeping it clean will be critical if you depend on fast deployment.
