Survival rate for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in a 17 year old girl?

More specifically Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma Stage 3. I'm just curious, my friend (she's 17) was diagnosed. She had a different kind of cancer about 5 years ago. Does her previous cancer have an effect on her survival chances? Thanks.

Although this is a high grade lymphoma, which means it spreads quicker than other types of lymphomas, it is very responsive to chemotherapy, even in stages 3 and 4. The 5 year survival rate is between 80-90%, which is great in comparison to other cancers.

Wish you and your friend all the very best

what is the longest remission time for non hodgkins follicular bcell? what is the longest survival rate?

Depends on the type and grade of severity. low grade lymphomas can survive 10 years or more, high grade is much less. my mother was diagnosed with low grade non Hodgekins but only lived 4 years after

What is the survival rate of a person with stage 3 lymphoma without any treatment?

my mother has been diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma, however she doesn't want to pursue treatment. What is her typical prognosis. In other words, about how long should we expect her to live? Her lungs have already begun to fill up with fluid and she has tumors in her lungs as well. Thanks for any information so I (her daughter) can prepare myself and my family. :-)

My husband died 4 years ago with NHL...he was a stage 4 and was treated in Houston. He survived 5 years (this number was given to us by the doctors in Houston as well as the cancer web sites). BUT

After living with this disease for over five years, I have met men and women who were diagnosed with stage 3 and 4 and are still living -- 10-15 year survival.

I AM LIKE YOUR MOM; If I ever was diagnosed with lymphoma I would NOT go through treatment. The side effects are horrendous and the quality of life goes. That dark cloud will always hang over your head and your loved ones too.
Lots of doctors and nurses will disagree with me, but until their loved one lives with it, day in and day out.... let them then have the last word.

Give your mom all the information she can handle...

Question about what exactly survival rates mean ?

I read survival rates and they say things like " 1 year survival rate 93 % , 10 year survival rate 64% ( those are for hodgkins lymphoma). Does that mean that after one year 93% of ppl are still alive, and after 15 years only 64% of ppl are still alive ? Or does it mean that if it hasnt been cured after 15years, theres only a 64% chance of cure ?
well, let me add that I have hodgkins. And it is very cureable, so they dont look to just put me in remision. Is the reason the rate gets so much lower also have to do with the fact that alot of older people get it, and in 15 years they might just die beuase they are old.......?

It means everything you stated, except the part about on a 64% chance of cure.
