I want either a Ka-Bar Marine knife, a Glock field knife, or a Gerber LMF II.
Any suggestions?
The knife will be used for survival/field utilitarian type functions.
The Glock knife is $30, the Ka-Bar is $60, the Gerber is $100.
Being a former Marine, it's hard not to like my Ka-Bar. Unless you want to be like Rambo (and you are not going to survive very long), I would avoid it as it's main purpose is for close quarters combat. Ka-Bar is probably the best American made combat knife around as it has been battle tested and hasn't changed since before WWII. KA-Bar does have other knives as well besides the standard issue. Your question is a little vague though. If you are looking at a knife that is for survival, a standard combat knife is not the way to go. Out of the three you listed, the Gerber is more of a true "survival knife". Do some research on other brands as well. Just because a knife has a higher price tag, doesn't mean it's the best. Look for functions that the knife has to offer, durability, etc.

My father still has his "K-Bar" displayed in his room, and said it was the 3rd most desired thing when he was in Nam. 1st was "ice"; 2nd was females; and 3rd his K-Bar.
i have a BUCK nighthawk tatical/military survival knife that is 4 7/8 in. long and need to know how long the max length a knife can be in florida that is not concealed.
I don't know that there is a max length
The laws concerning carrying knives address concealed knives and allow for 4 inch blades
I used to carry a Sharp Finger and have co workers that carry sheath knives around five inches long
I carry a caping knife with a small blade now
We have an excuse due to our jobs but I have never been stopped for doing it
Good quality, not rediculously priced.

Im 13 and want a survival knife but my mom doesnt want me to have a giant blade (over like 8 or 9 inches). So i went on amazon and found this bowie knife with a 7 7/8inch long blade. It had good reviews and cost only $13 (plus shipping) is this knife anygood? ty
Those are great knives for the price! Hell, those are great knives for any price.
There are four, possibly five of those knives in that series, that bowie was the first to hit the market a few years back. After that, a drop point, a double edged dagger, a tanto etc etc showed up. No one really seems to know who makes them. I've seen four diff manufacturers given credit for them.
They're rock solid, almost a 1/4" thick steel, sharp as any survival type knife should be, they hold an edge damned well etc. The one I took the time to grind off the black coating (not paint, it's more like some type of tough oxide stuff....fits a survival/military knife well!) it was carbon steel under. The handles, which folks will say is everything from "metal" to rubber to aluminum to what have you is actually a thick cast fiber reinforced plastic very similar to the stuff used in synthetic gunstocks. It's not cast in place....it's pressure fit up onto the knife tang and then fixed into place with the thong ferrule. The guards are welded into place....no rattles.
On one of my survival forums, as a project, I took one of those small machete/chopper knives and drilled out the handle ferrule and removed the grip. The blade tang then easily fit into a slotted staff end and paracorded in place to make a survival spear. When not used on a stick, simply slip the grip back into place and use an inch long piece of 1/4" brass rod in place of the ferrule to keep the grip solid in place. You can then do a small turk's head and lanyard out of the paracord on top of that to keep the rod in place and to give the grip some extra pommel to hold onto.
Those are great knives. You won't be sorry.
Gerber Tactical High Carbon Stainless Steel Knife | Prodigy ...
The Gerber Prodigy scales down the design of Jeff Freeman's tactical fixed blade , the LMF II. Still a large knife by civilian standards, the 9-3/4-inch Prodigy provides more than 4-3/4 inches of strong Sandvik 12C27 high carbon stainless steel. The combo edge serves well for quick cutting of straps and rope, with enough plain edge up front for ordinary work.
The black oxide coated blade has the non-reflective finish that real tactical knives need and other types often copy. Military considerations also influenced the design of the sheath, which is built for silent work. A soft-grip coating on the textured handle and the sheath dampens noise as the Prodigy leaves the scabbard. Another feature of the ballistic nylon sheath is a friction release thumb catch, which locks the Prodigy in the scabbard until pressed. For anyone who crawls through heavy brush on occasion, that's a real plus. Adding a thigh strap to the sheath makes it even more secure.
