Have any knowledgeable business people or "inside" publications made predictions as to how much more longer the Los Angeles Times newspaper will continue being published?
It seems the Times is growing thinner by the week. What are the predications about the newspaper's survival, considering current trends in the newspaper business?
From I have read, Zell should seriously consider selling the LA Times (like he did w/ Newsday) to other local billionaires (David Geffen and Eli Broad) among others. Recently, the LA Times is becoming more of a 50-50 ad content ratio paper (as you have found out for yourself). Right now, Google news is still accessing LA Times content where people can access the LA Times articles online (I do, although I don't live in the LA area).
I hadn't found a specific timeline as to how long the LA Times will continue to be published. I got a feeling the paper will survive (it is the second biggest paper in the Tribune family behind the Chicago Tribune - its failure will be a huge ego blow to Zell), but it will not prosper in this economy and until Zell sells the newspaper.

I'm in a newspaper class, and as managing editor I have to pull the classes money together to buy the main editors (6 OF THEM!) gifts. I'm thinking the cheapest thing would be college survival kits. What kind of stuff should I put in there. I have $60 to spend on all of them so it should be stuff I can get at Big Lots or Walmart. The more things you can think of the better (10 Points!!!)

I was just reading the newspaper and I see all the drug charges that some people have for buying drugs. I don't get it. If you can buy drugs, why not use the money instead to pay your bills.
1) The drugs have so badley messed up their minds that they can no longer prioritize and think straight.
2) Drugs are their only one desire and priority when they're addicted. They know that they have to pay their bills but they're so dumb and irresponsible that they would rather waste their money on drugs.
It is sad but that is how people are.
