Primitive Survival Skills

I am trying to find some DVDs on primitive survival skills. Can anybody give some recommendations, e.g. some websites?

Man Vs. Wild or Survivorman is good. They are both awesome shows.

I have been studying survival and primitive skills for 15 years do I qualify? How does one become a wilderness guide. Where and how does one go about establining their own guide business, and or lead organized outings? How does one advertise this stuff without sounding like a new age hippie?

You might start with calling your park service and fish and game for your state. You will be required to prove your skills and before an agency awards your registration. many stes require you to work under a registered guide for x amount of time. You will more than likey have to undergo a complete backround check, felons, sex-offenders ect. are out peroid. You will have to get a biz. liscence and most places require your biz lisc. # and reg. guide # in your adds. If you dont most customers will skip right over you. You will have to carry an insurance policy that fits the type of guiding you do. Good luck with your endeavor.

I heard Primitive Wilderness Living and Survival Skills and SAS books are very good. But they don't seem to cover everything you would need. I have not read any but I was hoping to find a book that told you EVERTHING that you can do in the wilderness, like how to make a compass, how to follow stars, how to make fish hooks! These books only seem to cover a few things! or am I wrong?

There is a collection of books called 'FoxFire' they are very old and were written to help people survive in the 'olden days'. They are worth reading and cover several things from medicine, skinning, trapping, shelter making etc. I have read many survival books but I would call these the best.

Hi I am going to teach Bushcraft skills for my local council on 5 occasions this year, how do i get Insurance?

(it has nothing to do with gardening/hedges)
Wilderness survival, Primitive survival skills, "Ray Mears"is a well known TV Bushcraft expert.

I need to be insured up to £5million where do fire breathers, and other people get insurance? they may be able to help me.

Have you tried phoning insurance companies and asking them if they offer public liability cover?
Try Churchills. I know they say 'car' and 'home' insurance, but that's only for advertising purposes (most people want those things insured - not so many after public liability). Give them a call and ask if they offer public liability. If not, ask them who does - I'm sure they'll know someone.
To be honest, I think you'll find it extremely expensive. The responsibility for insurance is on the venue hosting the event, not the person teaching. Ask at the place where it's taking place.
