After watching History#39;s quot;Apocalypse Manquot; last night I got the idea to make a small survival kit that I could keep with me most of ...
Basically I work with a diverse group of people in a social service arena. They are barraged with high stress situations and I thought it would be fun to create a small "survival" kit to help them get through the day all year.
Survival Kit
pacifyer - to soothe the "whiners"
spoon - for those you have to "spoon feed"
magic want - for the miracles you're expected to perform
tissues - for the "cry babies"
Jacks - because you have to be a "jack of all trades"
mints - so you will always have a fresh outlook
yo-yo - to remind you that this job has its ups and downs
rubber ball - to remind you that you can bounce back on the "down days"
snicker bar - to remind you that laughter is the best medicine
lifesavers - for when you are drowning in all the paper work
cotton balls - for when you want to drown out any additional requests
button - to remind you to button your lip
battery - so you can keep going and goin and going
100,000 bar - in lieu of that raise you want
piece of string - for all the times that you are expected to make ends meet
hugs and kisses - for whenever you need them
A SURVIVAL KIT FOR EVERY DAY LIVING
Items Needed:
Toothpick
Rubber Band
Band Aid
Pencil
Eraser
Chewing Gum
Mint
Candy Kiss
Tea Bag
Why???
1) TOOTHPICK - to remind you to pick out the good qualities
in others.
2) RUBBER BAND - to remind you to be flexible, things might not
always go the way you want, but it will work out.
3) BAND AID - to remind you to heal hurt feelings, yours
or someone else's.
4) PENCIL - to remind you to list your blessings everyday.
5) ERASER - To remind you that everyone makes mistakes,
and it's OK.
6) CHEWING GUM - to remind you to stick with it and
you can accomplish anything.
7) MINT - to remind you that you are worth a mint.
8) CANDY KISS - to remind you that everyone needs a kiss
or a hug everyday.
9) TEA BAG - to remind you to relax daily and reflect on all the positive things in your life.
These are most of the time put into little baggies. Such cute ideas...include a little card with why everything is in the bag!

I have a small survival kit put it sucks so I need some people that can tell me what to put in my survival kit
Topographic map of the area
Compass
Cigarette lighter
Knife
Flashlight and batteries
Fish hooks and line
10 ft. piece of 1/4 inch rope
Canteen and water purification tablets
Emergency thermal blanket
First aid kit (my kit is 8 1/2 x 6 inches).
Kit contains:
Band-aid adhesive bandages, stretch gauze bandage (5 yds.), adhesive tape, sterile pads, Merthiolate (skin antiseptic), aspirin, tube of antibiotic cream, small bottle of "New Skin" liquid bandage, Absorbine Jr. pain relieving patch).
I think the knife itself could be replaced with a small kit and several smaller knives, for spear heads and arrows? What do you think? Still, I acknowledge that a knife is handy, so which one would you choose?
Yes, a survival kit is the essential equipment you carry with you when away from civilization. A good knife is part of that. Most of us can forget Rambo, we don't have to deal with the humans coming to get us! So, what's the knife for?
1) building a fire - I chose a fixed blade knife that weights more than a half pound. I can split sticks with it to make kindling to start the fire. I found a CRKT one about 8 years ago, has served me well. (similar link below, check out other brands that store has). Bring a butane lighter, too.
2) building a shelter - you need something stout enough to cut or chop some strong branches, collect some fir or pine for insulation, make a lean-to, etc. Include a roll of dental floss (very strong and couple hundred yards!) and you will be set
3) food getting? I've never been in an area that I could speer any food. I need a gun for food. Or just carry a couple energy bars, just in case. That will get you through the first 48 hours.
4. defense - you with the broken leg, lying at the bottom of the cliff surrounded by coyotes and mountain lions - yeah, a knife might help as a last resort. I'd be embarrased to be in that situation WITHOUT a knife, ha! That is where the sheath knife comes in handy, easy to get at.
5. digging - yeah, maybe - make a foot hold, anchor a post for a shelter, level a fire pit, dig a toilet, uproot a rock, etc
6. first aid - cut branches for a sling, etc. Don't cut your snake bite unless you know what you are doing.....
Put it all in a fanny pack and always take it with you. Don't forget about the compass (no batteries- always works), map, little flashlight, butane lighter (test it), water purifyer or tablets, emergency blanket (mylar wrap) and filled water bottle as a minimum.
Link #2 is another "knife" for outback. I still want one of those! Good luck!
like a tin and stuff in it or something
some of yall do not read he said SMALL AND EASY TO CARRY just put kindlin(something that burns easy)ex. toilet paper
you need that anyway and matches and a small piece of steel and flint
