I need ideas:
Let's say your totally lost.
Your guide told you earlier that if you get lost: stay where you are, stay safe, and wait for someone to find you. It's getting late, and the temperature is dropping. When you dump out the contents of your backpack you see the following:
* A cell phone (with no signal)
* Two large rubber bands
* A scarf/bandana
* An empty plastic bottle
* A spiral-bound notebook
* Two retractable pens
* Two pencils
* A pack of gum
* A comb
* A nail file
* A mirror
* Backpack
Items in the environment include:
* Trees, leaves, sticks & twigs
* Rocks
* A small stream
* Dirt
* Pine needles and pine cones
describe how you would use the contents of your backpack along with clothing or accessories you are wearing and items in your environment (Use no more than 3 items that are not included in the backpack.) to address ONE of the following challenges:
1. Create a shelter
2. Gather food and water
3. Try to get the attention of a rescue party
p.s. It's not for school or homework, so don't tell me to do my own work, i'm curious what others think about it since its common.
I have seen this exact home work question before, your supposed to do your own home work you know.
Mostly a load of junk in that back pack.
I could use the paper from the note book for fire starter, it's wire to make a fishing hook
the bandanna as a prefilter for water in the plastic bottle
A nail file is almost a knife
The mirror is my signal device
Cell phone can be tracked for my position and the battery can start me a fire I would not use it for that as the value as a tracking device is better.
It's easy to build a shelter in the forest, I am sure you will get some more answers for the other odd ball stuff.
here is a link with good advice

Keep a look out for this coming thursday. A video of a challenge will be given.
out of three men, who would stand the greatest chance at survival if stranded on a deserted island?? the first being a nature guide with a backpack full of survival gear, the second is a man of the wild, he was born and raised in nature and has never recieved anything man-made, as far as he knows, he is the only man alive, that is how deep in nature he is, or the last but most certainly not least, with only a can of hairspray and a gleamingly attractive chest and ripped up pirate's shirt on, and some pirate boots, and a bandana on, we have patrick swayze, who would you place your money on?? i am going with the swayzemaster!! all the way, how could he not survive, he would surely outlast all these other jokesters, like for sure!!
I'm going with...Swayzemaster too,how could i not?! He's fit and looks so good, he has to survive!
The world is now a post apocolyptic landscape, the cities shattered by war and the roads empty. There is no government, there is no television, all the shopping malls are shut.
Survival is the primary aim for your band of land warriors, armed with nothing but crude weapons, bandanas and leather jackets and the desire to survive. They travel the land looking for supplies initialy before salvaging the remnants of technology to re-establish a new, better civilisation.
Take us through your strategy for surviving the bands of bandits, mutants and dangerous creatures that roam the deserted wastelands of the new world. How would you survive? How would you establish order? What laws would you impliment? Where would you go?
Best answer, with lengthy consideration of the problem and sound strategy to survive (whether it be Mad Max meets the Stand, or a harem of hot amazon women following your every whim) wins 10 points and my unquestionnable loyalty when the fall of Man finally happens
Mike Sanders - Both, actually. But that doesnt mean you shouldn't answer. Lack of preperation wont save you when the skinless mutants are at your front door.
Muslimgirl - I think its pretty obvious that even WITH world order the world is a pretty cruel and savage place. My advice to you would be to read Hobbes' "Leviathon" and Rousseau's "Spirit of the nations" and then work on an answer. Hurry and you can get it done by lunchtime...
would undertake a quest to find the one person who can get us out of this mess. Already have the information that he lives in a emerald city and the end of a yellow road made of bricks. We will need to keep out wits about us as the recon team has reported flying monkeys and an evil old crone thats out to get us!

Stories of Peace Corps Volunteer Paulita, former couch potato seeking a little relief from long-term effects of exposure to American culture and a life that actually feels like living. Not an official Peace Corps page. Also, the things stated here are of my own opinion. Wish I had more time to edit this, but that's the way the mop flops. Enjoy all the same.
(Address for goodies-sending and links to friends´ pages below) My big shame was this one thing that I bought. I never even showed anyone to make fun of myself. I needed to come out of the closet, and so I cleansed myself through the power of the spoken word, and hence I read the following to the other volunteers at our Thanksgiving...
