Is moldy bread good to eat when boiled? In a survival situation?

If I was stranded somewhere with no food but moldy bread, will I not get sick if I boil it first?

How are you going to boil it if you have nothing to start a fire with?? Anyways, I believe it would turn into mush in the water and no, I don't think it would be very good for you.

You'd be better off to get stranded with ketchup packets so you could make tomato soup.

Making bannock - simple bushcraft bread for everyday or survival food

Simple unleven bread that you can premix the dry ingredients and makes great trail food. Basic recipe 2 cups of flour- i used wheat 3/4 cup sugar ...

What three tools would you choose for survival?

If you were to be exiled to an uninhabited, equatorial island with a choice of any three tools, what three implements would you bring along?

The one caveat being that the 3 items must fit in a bread box!
It was difficult choosing the category, but with the future of space exploration, consideration of what to 'bring along' will be of great import!
I would want the following:

hatchet
large piece of clear plastic
dental floss

A "Rambo-Knife" - - as big as would fit in the bread box.

A large magnifying glass.

One of those metal collapsible bowls that you can filter/boil water with.

What are 5 essential "survival" ingredients for gluten-free diet?

With a gluten-free diet, for me the hardest part is making sure I have enough staple ingredients around the house to whip up something for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. What are approximately 5 must-have ingredients to have around the house for celiac sufferers? Most of the gluten-free breads I see available either taste yucky or are extremely expensive or hard to find. If I always have a few basics around that I can reach for when I need to eat, I'm less likely to cheat on the diet.

Here are MY top Five! (I am a lazy baker I do not bake from scratch so these are easy to use products.)

1. Kinninnick GF breads
2. Kinninnick Chocolate Glazed Donut
3. Kinninnick or Glutino pizzas
4. Pamela's Chocolate Cake or Cookie Mix
5. Pamela's Pancake and Baking Mix

I could go on!

DO NOT cheat on the GF diet!! Every time u ingest gluten as a celiac u damage your intestines. There will be enough accidental glutenings, do not intentionally do it!!

FYI:
here are some good sites
www.glutenfree.com
www.glutensolutions.com
www.csaceliacs.org
www.celiac.com
www.celiac.org

Outback, PF changs and others have GF menus--enjoy them when u eat out!!

GOod luck! Feel free to email me fo rmore help!

  • The Sisters Fierce: Snow Storm Survival: Bake Some Bread (UPDATED ...

Being good Midwestern girls, the Sisters Fierce are well-prepared for snow storms.  Growing up, we lived two doors up the street from a Methodist church with a huge parking lot.  Any time it snowed, we spend countless hours with the Brothers Fierce and assorted neighborhood kids playing in the parking lot.  "Playing in the snow in the parking lot" in print doesn't really sound like as much fun - or as safe, really - as it was.  (Don't worry, the parking lot was plowed, so there were always massive snowdrifts just begging for sledding.)  So play in the snow in the parking lot we did - building tunnels, igloos, snow forts ... we played outside until we were so cold we couldn't...
