It's kinda just a random question. I was just eating one and my dad and I were debating whether or not the white part has a purpose.
Hi. The white center is analogous to a woman's uterus, it is the point at which the fetus (seed) attaches and receives it's nutrients from the mother (plant).

I always wondered something.. as I am a zombie, virus catastrophe movie fan.. I always picture myself in the ones who would survive and raid stores for survival purpose.
But when it comes to raiding a drugstores, pharmacies, medical centers.. I woudn't know what to take.
Peroxide, bandages, pain killers.. other then that, what else could I take for our survival supplies?
First and foremost, you want to stay away from anything
mind altering and intoxicating. Your goal is to survive,
and you don't wanna be out of sorts with bloodthirsty
zombies on the loose. Any of these places will not have
a cure for the infection, so no point in looking for that.
There will also not be any time for showering and all so
hygiene products are useless as well. The typical first aid
kit things you've mentioned are essential, and keep in
mind you don't want a pain killer that will make you drowsy.
I would also throw in some alcohol and anti-bacterials.
Some Lysol or other flammable aerosols and
lighters/matches in case you need some quick flames.
Some respiratory masks as the virus could be airborne.
Some Dr. Scholls inserts would be good as you will be doing
a lot of running. Some No Doz, mini thins, or other energy-
stay awake meds would be needed. Vitamins and food
supplements might be good as you might have to go days
without anything to eat, and those electrolite tablets to keep
hydrated in case of no water. Small mirrors to flash as a
distress signal at any possible rescue airplanes/helicopters.
Some antibiotics such as Amoxicillin. Pepto Bismol. Any
kind of needles, hairpins, dental floss, sewing thread, etc.
could be useful for many reasons such as the obvious ones,
picking locks, MacGyver moments, etc. A medical center
might have surgical tools. You wouldn't want to be under
any heavy medication, so that's about all I can think of. All
other necessary survival items and weapons could be
attained at other places.

I have not had very good luck with survival rate. I don't know if it is the plant or the soil.
I won't buy from the chains. I support my local growers. Have you ever compared prioces? Some things I buy are more than 1/2 the price of the chains.
In the film, World Trade Center, the character McLoughlin (Nicolas Cage) and the younger policeman exhort each other not to fall asleep. Why would falling asleep be bad, if such would help the body and mind rest? We are led to believe the same thing in situations involving hypothermia. Let's say we could hunch over, cover ourselves (insulate), and rest or sleep; would this not increase our odds of suvival?
I recall hearing from someone that the latest research shows it is better to stop and rest, if lost in extreme cold conditions, even to let the snow cover and insulate you, rather than waste valuable resources in an effort to stay awake.
By the way, what is the name of the Marine who went in to Ground Zero to seek survivors? What is the name of the actor?
normally in a survival situation you are encouraged to get as much rest as possible as most people don't sleep for days when they are desperate and stressed.
In this movie they were hurt and possibly had much blood loss and shock. If you go to sleep with a severe concussion or you are some how on the edge of death due to bleeding or other trauma, you may go to sleep and not wake up. You have to consciously will your self to live. There is a thought that people will just give up living and not fight to remain conscious.
lost in the woods or in a war you must try to sleep each night even if the fear is too much.

Wait, so my special interests won#39;t get me what I want?
, Diego Hernandez and CAER , the Coalition Against Environmental Racism, has been stamping their feet like insolent children over a recent allocation of EMU office space that didn’t go their way.
A recently vacated office space in the Survival Center was up for grabs, and both CAER and the Alliance of Happy Atheists (AHA) applied for the space. Because of a relationship with ASUO President Emma Kallaway and the Survival Center, CAER didn’t think they really had to, you know, try to get the office space:
“The difference between their applications, CAER co-director Adrien Wilkie said, was that CAER, because of encouragement from Kallaway and the Survival Center to apply for the space, assumed that the Jan. 27 meeting at which an EMU Board subcommittee met to allocate space in the building was a formality.
