My friends and I are planning on camping on a large property that's a few miles away from a town. Considering we're going to have to do everything by foot...
What is the least amount of food a person should eat to remain healthy? We're trying to think of the cheapest solutions. We're about to start Wwoofing but we'd really like to just camp for about a month. How can we stay healthy and spend the least. No nutritional substitutes/supplements, no pre-packaged meals...
Eat lots of nuts. I know you don't want pre-packaged, but seeing as you have to carry everything, have you had a look at military style ration packs? MRE's taste great (well, I think they do!), aren't that heavy to carry, and contain all your basic (read there, BASIC) dietary needs.
This video is about testing my hobo stove. Thanks for watching! Enjoy! Please rate, comment and subscribe!
With a gluten-free diet, for me the hardest part is making sure I have enough staple ingredients around the house to whip up something for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. What are approximately 5 must-have ingredients to have around the house for celiac sufferers? Most of the gluten-free breads I see available either taste yucky or are extremely expensive or hard to find. If I always have a few basics around that I can reach for when I need to eat, I'm less likely to cheat on the diet.
Here are MY top Five! (I am a lazy baker I do not bake from scratch so these are easy to use products.)
1. Kinninnick GF breads
2. Kinninnick Chocolate Glazed Donut
3. Kinninnick or Glutino pizzas
4. Pamela's Chocolate Cake or Cookie Mix
5. Pamela's Pancake and Baking Mix
I could go on!
DO NOT cheat on the GF diet!! Every time u ingest gluten as a celiac u damage your intestines. There will be enough accidental glutenings, do not intentionally do it!!
FYI:
here are some good sites

www.glutensolutions.com

www.celiac.com

Outback, PF changs and others have GF menus--enjoy them when u eat out!!
GOod luck! Feel free to email me fo rmore help!
According to physicist Albert Einstein, “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances of survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.” Are you willing to eat less mean or no meat? What is your opinion on this statement?
Yes. I have already cut way back on my meat consumption.
Since I was young I have been interested in wilderness survival, unfortunately my diagnoses of type 1 diabetes has somewhat limited my capacity for such activities because of my reliance on the production methods in society. I want to know of any known remedy or diet that could possibly be used to control ketosis and high blood sugar in the hopes of experimentation and research to help me achieve the required level of self sufficiency and also to help others like me.
No, it is impossible for a type 1 person to survive without insulin injections.
However I see no reason why you cannot do a wilderness survival camp thing. All you need is sufficient supplies.
You can eat a very low carb food plan and take less bolus insulin. But then again, most of us would be much better off not eating all those grains and cereals and starchy veggies and soft sweet fruits all the time.
Meats and salads are the most that are necessary for survival. Salads can be any green food plant you can eat. Meats don't have to be Haut Cuisine either. Nuts, seeds and berries are plentiful and not harmful to your glucose control either.
Don't try to do it without sufficient supply of insulins tho. That and the necessary testing equipment are an absolute must. And have some way of contacting the modern world for medical rescue are all I know of that you absolutely need.
why body goes into survival mode with voluntary calorie reduction? and not with surgery?
Contrary to popular belief, your body goes into "starvation" mode in both cases. Both cases cut the net amount of calories, which confuses your body into thinking it needs to store. However, surgery generally bring about a larger calorie deficit much more quickly then does voluntary calorie reduction, so the effects are much more apparent much faster.
The downside to surgery is that your body doesnt get the amount of nutrients it requires through food, as well as other problems that can occur with any surgery, not limited to infection and death.
Choose your options wisely. It is safer and more beneficial in the long run to watch your calorie intake and exercise then it is to have weight-loss surgery done.

The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide
I was just recently diagnosed with a wheat intolerance and I wanted a quick and easy guide to what a G-Free life is like and this book provided that information. It’s a simple, easy read and it got me going while I read more indepth information about living with Celiac Disease and wheat allergies. (I skipped over her drivel about her wonderful life with her amazing husband.)
I am obviously not a fan of Elizabeth Hasselbeck so I was surprised myself that I paid money for a book she wrote or cowrote or inspired or whatever. But who better to give me a dumbed down version of living G-Free than the dumbest person on TV.
That’s the only reason I can see for the comments giving this book a five star rating. Those reviews must have been written by her family and friends. This book is an atrocious pile of pure garbage about the disease. I am actually angry that this book was published. If you have already purchased this book throw it in a landfill where it belongs!
