Wilderness survival and first aid training in singapore??

i've been wanting to take a training course in wilderness survival and first aid, but i cannot seem to find any organisation or anyone in singapore who can provide such training.

anybody in singapore know an organisation, or personally has extensive knowledge in the mentioned subjects?

not too sure about widerness survival, but you can try st john ambulance for the first aid training... go to the SJAA (Association), the website i have listed is rather simple, hence you may call them up to find out more. think they should be able to provide you with better info since they know better

you can also try singapore red cross. the website has more info and seem more updated. go to 'courses'...

to add something on wilderness survival courses, though I never taken part in these courses, probably you can try singapore outward bound website (http://www.obs.pa.gov.sg/) think you need to contact them for the info

Do you have a survival/first-aid kit in your vehicles??

I don't...I know I should just in case...but the last time I was involved in an awful accident...my car was totally destroyed to the point that we couldn't find any of my stuff I had in there... so much for the first-aid kit.

Don`t you think survival training or basic first aid should be taught in school?

from the time we are kids...

How are quadratic equations going to help me more in the real world than CPR?

Thats actually a really good idea!!! My 8th grade biology teacher made us learn because he was a hardcore outdoors man, but I know it wasn't in the curriculum.

If your interested in getting involved in this I suggest you
(If your a student) bring this matter up with the principal or a cool teacher. You could make a presentation showing how it would help students who will soon have children be better parents, and if you get them to offer certifacation then students could put that on their resumes! Plus- muchos service hours for you! I know I had teachers who required alot of community involvement.
(If your a parent) bring the matter up at a community meeting where you could get other parents involved. Principals will usually ignore one parent, but not alot- esp if you can find parents with occupations where survival/first aid are crucial skills. If your really ambitious you could even try to get a CPR requirement snagged into some bill. Of course, that might be easier if you can get a program in an individual school first.

If this was just a hypothetical question- I still totally agree with you. My state now requires students to pass Algebra 2 to graduate! I really feel bad for the teachers because that means another year of classes filled with students who don't want to be there and just cause hell for the few that do. Those kids should be acquiring life skills and copying off the brainy kids papers doesn't count.

  • Buy Cheap

  • Preparing on a shoestring Part 4: First Aid and Medical

The ability to treat injury and illness is essential in any preparedness program. If you are sick or hurt, your ability to cope with problems will be diminished. If you are sick or hurt and untreated, you are in REAL TROUBLE! Prepare to safeguard your health like your life depends on it because, well, it just might.

The ideal scenario would be for your rich, long lost uncle to leave you a fully stocked, manned, and functional hospital in his will, but that isn’t a realistic expectation. Start small. I recommend a commercially sold first aid kit geared to construction sites. They are a long way from an ideal trauma kit, but the ones geared to serve a construction crew are designed to provide for the treatment of a wide variety of injuries and minor medical problems. They can also generally be had for less than $50. They give you a good start and you can add to them as you go along.
