What is good things to put in a survival pack?
Most important is a good quality knife. With a knife you can start fires, catch food, build a shelter. Next would be a large roll of 12 - 20 lb.
Nylon Fishing filament for snaring food, catching fish, tying up a shelter, binding wounds (not stitching, but to hold dressings in place), mending clothes, etc.
Next would be a piece of bright orange plastic sheeting big enough to cover you during bad weather, or shade you in the hot sun, and can be easily seen by rescue aircraft.
A wool blanket (wool will keep you warm even when wet).
Water is also important, At least (2) two liter bottles.
Matches in a water proof container. Fish Hooks.
Small Sauce pan for dipping water, boiling water, cooking food. etc.
Food is your choice, but pick things that won't spoil and can be eaten without being cooked if necessary (Like Top Ramen Noodles, Freeze Dried Rice, etc.) Do not take canned goods as they weigh too much, spoil if left in direct sunlight, need a can opener and usually need heating to be safe to eat.
And a survival book telling you ways to make snares, catch fish without hooks, etc.
A book showing which plants are safe to eat in the particular area you are traveling in. (Can be found on the e-net, or at some sporting goods stores).
This is my entry to the woods monkey, perfect survival kit, it had to be under ten minutes which only allowed 30 sec. for each item. for no more ...
I am wondering what kind of survival gear and weaponry is included in an Apache gunship in case of a crash during combat operations? Medical gear? Food? 9mm pistols? M4 Carbines? Flares? Smoke grenades? A tent? Etc?
That's classified. That info is on a Need To Know basis, and frankly, you don't need to know.
LOL...IDK.
I do know that every pilot is equipped with a sidearm. The standard sidearm for all US military is the M9 Beretta. I'm sure a radio, map, smoke grenade and transponder are standard.
