Survival Hunter

I'm a lvl 80 hunter and i just switched to survival from BM so i need a new pet and i was wondering what would be good for my spec.

***()***SURVIVAL PET OPTIONS***()***
- (obvıously) you can´t use BM pets
- First of all picking a pet for PvP or PvE survival are two completely different things so I´ll just tell you about both (you didn´t specıfy what you would be survival for).

***PVP PETS - CUNNİNG***
# --- Your Options --- Abilities
1. Bat - does direct nature damage and stuns target for 2s (use for spell interrupt)
2. Birds of Prey - does direct nature damage and disarms target for 6s (Use on DKs, rogues, warriors, other hunters, and pallies)
3. Dragonhawk - does some dırect and 2s worth of fire dmg (crap)
4. Nether Rays - [Counterspell]esque abiılıty that does direct shadow damage, interrupts cast, and prevents spells from that school from beıng cast (works best on paladins, warlocks and druids).
5. Ravager - does physical damage and stuns target for 2s (like bat)
6. Serpent - poisons for a DoT and makes casting 25% longer (use on healers)
7. Spider - webs enemy so they can´t move for 4 secs
8. Wind serpents - does a burst lightning ball (best in my opinion)

***PVE/DPS PETS - FEROCITY***
# --- Your Options --- Abilities
1. Raptors - good DoT (bleed)
2. Wolves - get a bonus to AP now and then
3. Wasps - good poison DoT + decreases target armor for 20s (recommendation)

***ALSO NOTE***
- I did not mention all the pets, but with good reason
- Which pet you choose will not make or brake your character in PvE
- Pet is somewhat more important in PvP

I'm speccing Beast Mastery and only using Beastial Wrath to get out from melee class. But how do I escape melee as Survival Hunter ?

other dude is full of lies, honestly there is no "pvp" specc, it's how well you play it vs. how well the opponent plays their specc(unless you're fighting a rogue, then it's all about having your game paused while a rogue runs in circles and your health bar just slowly goes away).

great thing about survival is all the cc you get and how it's kind of a combination of marks and BM. so here's what i do - specc for scattershot, wyvern sting, expose weakness, and thrill of the hunt. use your

grab Scattershot, pick up Wyvern Sting, go for Expose Weakness and Thrill of the Hunt, or spec to get Readiness. then all ya really gotta do is keep your aspect of the hawk up, use arcane shot and multi shot ALOT. that's about it... you regain enough mana to not really have to stop, and if you have over 600 agil, your expose weakness almost doubles the dmg your aspect of the hawk gives you for crits.

i wanna make a survival hunter and i was wondering how it works when it comes to melee/ranged... do u fight ranged until the person comes close then fight melee or how does it work exactly?... if ur fighting another ranged class, would u stay from far and shoot or attack directly?... thx in advance

As a hunter you definitely want to keep range, be it through kiting, or using a tank.

In solo PVE the easiest is to use your pet as a tank. Install an addon like Omen threat meter to keep from pulling aggro off your pet. If you're still levelling it'll probably be easier to level in beast mastery as this gives your pet more survivability.

In PVP you use different tactics to stay out of range of your opponents, including trapping, wing clip, concussive shot etc.

There is a decked out hunter in my guild who cannot hit above 2k dps. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with his setup and rotation. I recently found out he is a clicker aswell. I would definately check out the elitist jerk guide, as I used that to learn about pally tanking. They are thorough and clear. I hope you find help.
