Survival Manual

I am looking for a book similar to the US Army's Survival Manual. However, the Army's survival guide does not have a section on urban survival. I live in a major city and want to get information on where to get water, food and shelter in the event I run out of supplies in a war, financial collapse, governmental take-over or natural disaster. I like the book "Steal This Book," but the information in it is very outdated from the 1970s. Anyone know of some comparable books? Thanks.

A better idea would be for you to take some classes in first aid and volunteer to participate in disaster relief drills. If you look around you can find many opportunities to prepare yourself to make a difference after a disaster.

I'm guessing the USAF survival Manual, but is there another that they'd have in their survival kit?

I doubt that those guys carry a survival manual. It's not like they are going to be shot down behind enemy lines. If they do have to abort a mission, they will be immediately found. And it's just extra weight that requires more fuel to carry it along. Engineers sweat to remove every ounce they can from those vehicles.

I am an ESL tutor and I'm looking for the teacher's manual that goes along with the book "Survival English, English through Conversations, Second Edition, Book 1" by Lee Mosteller/Bobbi Paul. Copyright is 1994.

I've looked on Ebay, Amazon, and the Pearson Education website (they are the publishers), and neither of these have the teacher's manual for sale.

Just wondering cause i downloaded some and i was wondering if it was illegal i don't want to learn how to be a trained killer just want to learn cool survival skills and it shows how to start fires and snare animals thats all i really want out of them...

There are very few military Field Manuals that are restricted. You can't get to those and you would be bored to death by them! Feel free to use those manuals you download without fear of a silenced black helicopter and men in black coming to get you!

I am thinking about writing a book for people that have to survive on very little. This would help give single parents and people that make a subsistance living a chance to streach thier dollars. I am wondering if there is any market for it. I want to help my family and help others as well live a better life.

Sounds interesting. I have read some similar books in the past & enjoyed them, there are also newsletters available with ideas on how to save money/live frugaly. I would probably read such a book.
