Is Rush-The-Comedian Limbaugh an example of survival of the fAttest? What would Charles Darwin say about this?

He'd say the process of natural selection is greatly impaired by Oxycontin abusers and their ignorance is only surpassed by the brainless people who listen to them religiously.

Are we in a Consumerist Neo-Darwinian epoch - survival of the fattest?

Spencerian/Darwinian, bah! Semantics! We're dealing with ideals here and 'natural selection' is pretty much the same thing as 'survival of the fittest'. Maybe they apply on different scales, but they're very similar ideas. Anyways, I think we're in an age of decline - not survival! Survival of the least-capable-of-natural-adaptation (which would perhaps fit in with the whole fattest/addicted to convenience thing), maybe? My answer - I don't think our survival has to do with our consumption, but with our intellect. Adaptive social/intellectual pioneers are the most eligible/fittest bachelorettes and bachelors of our day.

Amount of time before excess calories/carbs are stored as fat?

Fat/Weight loss books are saying excess calories/carbs will be stored as fat - how long does that take? Also, how long before the body begins to store fat (survival mode) on restricted calorie diets?

Deposit of fat and reduction of fat r continuous process and depend on input output balance.

Eat well but only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. To have more satisfaction out of ur food, Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will also activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals. Do not go on fast or starvation diet.

Nothing other than water in between.

No special diet, call it by any name or program helps as one cannot adopt them on permanent basis. Diet pills are chemicals and per se bad and shud be avoided unless the doc considers it necessary looking at ur condition.

Take light exercises and brisk walks for 30 min.regularly preferably on empty stomach and twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time and hassle free.

Be patient and not in a hurry.

U cannot choose spots for reduction.

This schedule can be adopted on permanent basis to lead a healthy life and maintain weight.

Sumo Wrestling: survival of the fattest?

I have actually seen sumo and I did enjoy it but I was basically just making a silly joke.

Apperantly you have never seen sumo. I always enjoy it when its on ESPN2.
Regular HS and College level wrestling is more survival of the fattest than Sumo. In Sumo, someone can be outweighed by 150 pounds and win. I have seen it done. If anyone in HS or college wrestling would be able to do that, against another person who is trained, I would love to see it.
Sumo is a matter of skill, strength, and Agility. The agility part is where I differ from the first answerer. Speed (as in a 40 time) is not necessarily important, but the agility and quickness to get off the line first, to get inside positioning, and to get under your opponent, to take away their leverage, are all more important than weight.

Winter survival instinct: fat accumulation?

Okay so I'm not talking about gaining "holiday fat".
Is it natural for your body to accumulate a small amount of fat during the winter? like as in a survival instinct from days of old when we would've needed to keep warm?
I don't eat excessively during the holidays and I've continued to work out, but I've still gained a small amount of fat; probably 2% or 3% more body fat than before.
Granted my exercise regimen has changed due to a recent knee injury, I went from running 6 days a week to biking 4-5 days a week, lifting weights, and doing ab workouts. I'm going to start running again soon though.
Is it just because of different workout regimen, or do you think my body is just responding to the primal Instinct to keep warm?
It's only noticeable to me, and my pants size hasn't changed (still wearing a 1) but I just feel fatter. I dunno what do y'all think??
I'm pretty sure I said that I'm exercising.

Well, I havent gained any wieght over the holidays, actually, I think I lost a pound. Ofcourse, I havent left my house very much, but im assuming that you can gain wieght if you go outside as protection to the cold. It could also be that you dont get as much exercise during the winter.

Hope I helped =)
