are space blankets/survival blankets an effective means of blocking infra red signal, thinking of using it as a tactic in paintball as a smart arse friend got some ex military sights which i feel is a bit of a cheat!
It should work to an extent. Infrared radiation is pretty much just heat. Curved mirrors are used to reflect infrared sunlight to power solar cookers, and radiate the heat from a bar heater. It is the shiny reflective nature of the aluminium space blanket that would do the job. BUT once the blanket has absorbed some of your body heat it will just show up in your friend's sights as normal... If you put it on top of some well-insulating clothes it would work better.
Mind you, Arnie beat the Predator's IR vision by coating himself in mud! Good luck

Everyone's parents seem weird until you reach the age of 25. Then, miraculously, they get much smarter.

I enjoy adrenaline, but not like other people. Others get an adrenaline rush from roller coasters, fast cars, etc. Cars are fine, if im driving. But I dont get the buzz from roller coasters. I get scared, but there is no rush feeling. It is just weakening of my body. BUT in survival situations, emergencies, etc I am super focused. When I play airsoft and paintball, I get this rush. I dont get it from anything else, except fighting. My brain becomes super focused. I can see perfectly, to the point where while it is happening it feels like i can zoom my vision. When I get shot at in paintball, I can see those little balls flying, in air as if they were just floating to their target. I can envision the opponents finger squeeze, and the bolt of the marker moving just before, or as it happens. When I fight, once the anger or frustration fades, I can do the fighting with my eyes closed, or with the opponent behind me. Entirely by feel, and this sense i get. I can FEEL exactly where they are as if I were seeing it. WHY do I do this? I am horribly uncoordinated otherwise, and have terrible vision. ALso pain is only senssory in this state. NO agony, just an awareness to injury.
maybe you have more secretion of adrenaline
My boyfriend and I haven't been apart since we've started dating, he's leaving in about a week for a pretty long trip and I want to give him a little gift so that I'm on his mind as he's gone. Does anyone have any ideas as to things I can put in this "survival kit"? Right now I have a map of where he's going, a picture or two, a mix cd and some hershey's kisses.
We both get a kick out of puns and other clever things like that so if you could work a joke in, that'd be awesome.
More stuff:
He's going on a trip to paintball.
He's going to be doing a lot of driving.
Buy some chips," You don't need to chip in for this!"
Buy bugspray,"Don't let the bed bugs get you
Buy sunscreen ," My heart will be burning for you, I won't put sunscreen on it." ( hey that was cute!)
Buy a deck of cards(relaxing)- "Don't deck anyone"
Buy him a couple books-"Beat The Heat,READ!"
Snacks: chips,cookies,trail mix,chewy bars, etc.

A Brief History of Paintball Guns | Sports and Recreation | PadTop.com
Back in 1970, a gentleman by the name of James C. Hale, an employee of Daisy Manufacturing, designed and patented a device to be used by the forestry and farming industries to mark trees, trails and livestock. This mechanism was to become the very first paintball gun – the Nelspot 007, and was manufactured by the Nelson Paint Company.
Charles and Evan Nelson founded the Nelson Paint Company in 1940, as the forest and farming industries needed a way to mark hard to reach places. Charles is credited with the creation of pellets filled with paint that could be shot out of a regular type of gun to complete this difficult task.
The first game-style milestone in paintball history came in 1981 New Hampshire when 3 friends (Bob Gurnsey, a sporting goods retailer, Hayes Noel, a stockbroker and Charles Gaines, a writer) planned to play the organized game “Capture the Flag” with 9 others. On June 27, 1981, the game was played using the original Nelspot 007 paintball gun. The winning team never even fired a single shot. The twelve friends had such a good time, they decided to buy into the Nelson Paint Company, and began marketing their newfound fun as a recreational sport.
