It's important that you have enthusiastic arguements with yourself whenever you are in public.

I strongly urge you to develop a couple or three self-characters that you can invoke spontaneously.

Be sure to incorporate flamboyant, but character-specific gesturing for each.

People will walk BIG CIRCLES around you. This will keep muggers, pickpockets and gropers at bay (along with most everyone else. . .) but it works!

Example:

You (character1) quietly: Yeah. You always get your way, always want to ride the bus. I wanna ride a cab. You never listen.

You (character2) loudly: Oh Right. Mr Moneybags Has Phatstax for a Cab, Don'tcha???

You C1: I do not.

You C2: Sure Ya Do!!

You (character 3) accent: I don't a believe eh dat ees gota enny money!

C2: Yeah He Does! I Seen It with My Own 2 Eyes!

C1: Who asked you? Shut up!

C3: Bloody rotter. Always whining!

C1: No I don't

C2: Oh Yes You Do!
