Survival Seeds

There are two types of seeds: hybrid (GMO) and Non-hybrid or Open-Pollinated seeds.The term "Survival Seeds" is used here to describe Non-Hybrid or Open-Pollinated seeds. Non-Hybrid seeds allow you to "collect the seed" from your crops for future planting, unlike Hybrid Seed varieties which produce sterile seeds that CANNOT be collected or used for future planting.

he claims to be so for the american people yet he is selling fear and despair to his fans. are people really falling for this crap?

They can stay all winter in the frozen ground and come out of dormancy in the spring when the ground thaws. Thus, they live another year. If they sprouted when they first hit the ground, chances are the winter would kill them.

In a manner of speaking. They don't ensure the survival of the plant which produces the seeds, but they help to ensure the continuation of the species as a way future generations of plants can be produced.

I can think of a good example. I started two water plants from seed last summer. One was a lotus plant from a seed about the size of a very small grape. The sprout that emerged from it was pretty strong and survived being planted in clay soil and then submerged in water and subjected to heat fluctuations, wind, etc. On the other hand, the seed that I bought for water lilies were so small that I had to start several in order to get a couple to actually sprout, and then the sprouts were soooo delicate that I gave up on them. The larger seed/sprout, in other words, had a much better chance of survival in nature. The larger lotus seed was not only protected in a hard nut-like shell but it had a bigger storage of nutrients to give the seedling a "jump start".
