What is the most important thing in your life after food, clothing, shelter and survival?

Is it school, clothes, sex, love, money, success, family, reputation, job, career, destiny, eternity, peace, hobbies, compassion, excitement, freedom, existence, health, knowledge, religion, self gratification, social service, education, happiness, politics, global warming, homework, the prom, your last date, being right, winning honors, your next date, your first car, how green your lawn is or maybe the last thought before you die?

The most important thing in my life BEFORE ANY of that is God and Jesus!

How do plants and animals need each other for food, shelter and survival?......hurry plz thnx?

Plants are the only living organisms that produce food (out of air and sunshine and a few facilities of their own) Everything else depends on plants for survival e.g. animals eat plants, humans eat animals and plants, and of course animals eat other animals. Without plants, first in the food chain, animals could not survive. I don't see plants can possibly need animals for food (your question says "each other") - they're not carnivorous!! As for shelter, come on, think about it. Think about BIG plants....

what survival shelter do you think is the best?

what kinds the best and what website can i find it on

well in Florida I would want something to keep the rain off me so maybe a lean to would do.

but if I was out west I might want a A frame type shelter to handle the strong winds. or if it was snowy I might want to build a tepee, so the weight of the snow would automatically keep it off my shelter do to the steep pitch of the shelter.

or I might want to use the great insulation property's of snow and simply dig a hole in the ground toss some soft branches to keep me off the ground and them pack the hole opening in with the folded tent.

every survival situation has its own "best" shelter, the best shelter comes from people who are prepared. those people have a good strong knife that they can use to get wood, make shelter parts, cut the fire wood, etc...... and they would have some para cord

and know how to tie knots that will last.

it all comes down to location and the survivors ability and ingenuity.

here is a sight that explains some basic survival shelters http://www.wilderness-survival.net/shelt ers-2.php

so the best survival shelter is the most effective one for the given situation.

good luck!!

How would YOU stock a shelter?

Whether it be for the coming zombie invasion, aliens, or a simple nuclear holocaust, what would you stock in an underground survival shelter?

Please give examples of dried roadkill meats, and also how many hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammo is the bare minimum?

Anything else helpful would be appreciated.

You may be interested to see the movie "Blast from the Past" (1999) A paranoid scientist Calvin Webber (Christopher Walken) and picture-perfect suburban wife Helen (Sissy Spacek), in the midst of the fearsome Cuban Missile Crisis (1962), the Webbers witnessed a blast they thought must be the Big One, but was actually a plane crashing into their yard. So they ensconced themselves in their elaborately engineered bomb shelter to wait out the half-life of radioactive contamination for 35 years.

That is by far, the best engineered shelter. It has hydroponically grown vegetables, personal fish farm, chickens who lay eggs, a generator to run the TV and VCR and is stocked with all sorts of things a person might need. Their son, Adam (Brendan Fraser) is born in the shelter and later emerges to a world very different from the one his parents knew and falls in love with a girl, Eve (Alicia Silverstone), who helps him sell baseball cards and stock certificates so his family becomes quite rich.

For an emergency that is not so devastating, a person may need water, food ( canned with opener) blankets (sleeping bag, pillow), flashlight with batteries (kerosene or propane lamp also propane stove), candles and waterproof matches, butane lighter, radio (with batteries) board games (chess, go, backgammon) and prescription medications. Just put the essentials in a duffel bag or backpack. Keep your kit somewhere easy to find, like the trunk of the car or next to the back door, and make sure everyone in the house knows where his or her kit is.

* Every once in awhile you should check your "kit" because batteries run down and food expires, (water can be stored longer in a glass container). *

I once had to tough it out for over a week because the power lines were down due to an ice storm (power company kept extending time for repairs). I was totally unprepared. Also, in summer, the electricity sometimes goes out because of a/c overload and food in the refrigerator spoils. So, I would say, at least consider getting a generator and having a stock of bottled water. A person may have to "survive" even if it is not in a shelter.

When there is a disaster such as a hurricaine or flood, the Red Cross usually comes with supplies and temporary shelters may be set up.

You can also learn "survival" skills, like living in the woods with a knife, safety pin, string, compass and learn lashing to build a temporary shelter....such as you might learn in boy scouts/girl scouts or the military. It is a good skill for camping and the backyard barbecue if you learn to start a fire.

Road kill and ammo? Well, maybe you have too harsh of a scenario in mind.

  • Monday Kit Tip - Group Shelters - OUTDOORSmagic Hill skills

What is it? Simple, a group survival shelter also known as a bothy or blokka bag. Produced by a number of brands, group shelters are simple, waterproof and windproof bags that are large enough to cover a number of people.

Usually you take them out and use your packs both to sit on and to anchor the base of the shelter and stop it blowing away. The pack also insulates you from the ground. The big pluses of using a group shelter rather than individual survival bags are that you share body warmth and the interior of the bag heats up quickly as a result making it warm and comfy.

The other huge advantage is that sitting with your mates is a real morale booster if things...
