Survival Skills Training

Rangers? Or any other units? The mountain Marines teach mountain climbing, and survival skills in rugged terrain.

What is the Army equivalent?
How do you get to go to any of these schools?

The Army has several different types of survival schools ranging S.E.R.E school, to the Q course in SF and numerous training centers where specific survival is taught for different geographic locations, such as Jungle Warfare, Desert, Swamp, Winter training in Alaska and Wisconsin. Ranger School includes a mountain phase along with the 10th mountain division. Every single potential environment is covered.

You either need the schools as a requirement for your MOS or you attend them as a unit, or portion of your unit. A few can be attended by request on an individual basis like the old pathfinder school used to be. S.E.R.E school used to operate on that basis if there was room, but that is not common any more.

Most units do not attend all, however Airborne, Ranger and SF most definitely do at some point as they are subject to rapid deployment within 18 hours, anywhere on earth.

if" something happens that affects your way of life do you have the basic survivor skills, for example; you are forced out of your home, and must go to the wilderness to survive; do you have any survival training or equiptment ,tent, backpack,tools,bow-arrows,dog, compass, etc. etc.??(please elaborate)??

Yes. My husband is a farmer and grew up in rural Arkansas. We have our own lumber mill meaning we can go from tree-in-the-forest to new table. We know how to "read" nature to track animals, locate water, consider weather patterns, etc. We camp, we fish, we have hand-crank radios, cell chargers, and flashlights so the gear does not rely on electricity. We go deer hunting every year and put up our own meat - as steaks, ground beef, sausage, etc. We also have hogs, cattle, horses, old plows, wagon parts, and chickens/eggs.
Other family members know how to sew, quilt, use "real" ingredients to cook, how to make soap, etc.
We also have a garden each spring that gives us enough to can and freeze vegetables. Medicine would have to resort back to wives tales and indian remedies told by the old timers around here. I'm a First Aid/ CPR instructor and was an EMT. That would be the hardest---- that and protecting our resources from raiders but that's a little too dramatic and survivalistic to think about right now don't you think?

We know how to use the land, use what we have, and make what we have last...... and if we have to, we could survive AND thrive.

Just wondering cause i downloaded some and i was wondering if it was illegal i don't want to learn how to be a trained killer just want to learn cool survival skills and it shows how to start fires and snare animals thats all i really want out of them...

There are very few military Field Manuals that are restricted. You can't get to those and you would be bored to death by them! Feel free to use those manuals you download without fear of a silenced black helicopter and men in black coming to get you!

The question is about their training, knowledge, survival skills, etc.
Who is more capacitated as a human weapon?
Who is more elite?
Is the French foreign legion more like a Special force? To which may it be compared of the US special forces?

They share a lot in common:

like losing in Vietnam or Indo-China as the French call it.

Like being in a draw in Korea,

Like being in a world of hurt in Lebanon (same day suicide bombing of the U.S. Marines the F.F.l. lost 79 guys to a suicide bomber as well.)

As both are based on different military policies with regards size of units, military budget,, types of units in composition, like armour, artilliry, etc..etc..you cant just say "A" is better than "B", both have to be taken on their respective merits, and respective weaknesses.

As representatives of their respective countries they both do an outstanding job and its sad to see people commenting on supposed weaknesses between Allies with a long and noble tradition of cooperation (USA and FRANCE.)

Which government or military program offers the best leadership trainning courses?
Which (g or m) program offers the best courses in small arms, knives, defense, & assult courses?
Which branch of the (g or m) program prepaires you the best to thrive in life with leadership, verbal and physical communication skills, political, social, & life management skills.
