what are the chances of surviving a kidney transplant when you only have one kidney to begin with ? ?

What are the chances of surviving a kidney transplant when you only have one kidney to begin with ?
my best friend is 14 so am i
and about 2 years ago he gave a kidney to one of his closest friends in the world but it wasnt enough to save him and he died and now
he only has on kidney left and its failing on him
he was almost killed last year by being stabbed by his father
because he tried to defend his mother from his fathers beating
and now im really really worried soo please tell me what the odds are of survival ?

im just really worried about him
i care about him alot
and im scared bc he had a siezure a few weeks
ago and he was fine but its just he gets these headaches ever since he got stabbed and his eyes go bloodshot and they get soo bad ( the headaches ) it ends in him screaming until he can get some kind of medication and when he has his siezure it was at school durin our grade 9 dance and there were strobe lights and loud music and i know they are both common in indusing siezures but even before we entered the dance he had one of those headaches and it just kept getting worse until he had a siezure and passed out they had to drag him out of the dance and call an ambulance and wouldnt let anyone out of the gym or their classes until they took him away

can kidney failure cause siezures?
and how would you find out about kidney failure ?
the only name of a test i kno he had was an EEG or something to check for epilepsy and im pretty sure it came back sayine he wasnt epileptic

also symptoms of kidney failure you might be able to notice?
like with liver failure where you get yellowish eyes?
is that the same for kidneys because his eyes have been looking yellow lately but i never read anything into it until i found out about his kidneys ?

Sorry this is soo long im just SUPER worried
i dont want to lose him
:(

when you say dialysis im 14 and i have no idea what most stuff really is ..
but thats when they filter your blood with the tubes in your vains to remove toxins ?
or is there other forms of dialysis?

How many kidneys the recipient has does not affect the outcome of a kidney transplant. I had both of my ailing kidneys removed and lived on dialysis for three months before the transplant was going on. 8 years later I'm still very healthy :)

Some simple indicators of renal failure include a yellow tint to the eyes and skin, severe headaches (from raised blood pressure), swelling in the legs.
Your friend needs to visit a nephrologist. One typical blood test that will be used to determine his kidney function is a Creatanine Clearance test, this is a relatively quick and inexpensive test. If that indicates his kidney function has deteriorated below 10% he will be considered for a transplant.
He may well have to go onto dialysis while he waits for a kidney (or for tests on family members to determine if they are suitable donors). Dialysis is indeed when your blood is filtered to remove toxins and surplus fluid, it is a mechanical means of doing what the kidney does naturally. There are two common kinds of dialysis, and both allow the patient to carry out a fairly normal life:
Hemodialysis: A shunt or catheter is semi-permanently attached to or inserted into one of the major veins. During treatment this is connected to a dialyser machine which over a period of a couple of hours pumps the blood from the body through a filter and then back into the body.
Peritoneal dialysis: A tube is inserted into the peritoneal cavity in the peritoneal cavity and used to introduce a sterile solution to the cavity which absorbs toxins from the blood. This fluid is periodically drained out and replaced with fresh fluid. The process is typically carried out at home by the patient.

  • Distress signals

A distress signal is an internationally recognized means for obtaining help. Distress signals take the form of or are commonly made by using radio signals, displaying a visually detected item or illumination, or making an audible sound, from a distance.

It is a good idea to know at least a few of the internationally recognized signals if you are out and about in the worlds wilderness areas. I have never needed or used a distress signal personally but,While employed in hostile areas around the world I always carried a blaze orange marker panel and a signal mirror in addition to my radio and extra batteries. in addition I have a wallet size card which illustrates aviation ground to air distress signals – just in case.
